Lasting Memories at Galle Face Hotel

After six months of adventure in Sri Lanka， my journey is regrettably concluding. Throughout my stay， I experienced a variety of accommodations—from private villas to hostels and family homes. For my final two nights in the capital， I sought out luxury with a colonial twist. I hoped for an iconic venue that would leave a lasting impression. Galle Face Hotel， existing for over 160 years， perfectly melds colonial allure with modern sophistication， standing proudly as the Grande Dame of South Asia and Colombo's most iconic location. Renowned figures like Steven Spielberg， Che Guevara， Ernest Hemingway， Sting， Sade， Robbie Williams， Lord Mountbatten， and Richard Nixon have graced its halls. Although I'm generally not a fan， the buffet was amazing. The service was flawless， with staff going out of their way to make your stay memorable. They're clearly proud to be here. The pool， sadly， is saltwater instead of chlorinated. The views are breathtaking， and for once， I didn’t venture outside the hotel—a rarity for me. The passionfruit frozen daiquiri and cheesecake are outstanding. Mutton Rogan Josh delighted my palate， alongside sweet treats， gin & tonics， and， of course， Lion draught beer. This was a spontaneous， last-minute booking. My ocean-view room overlooking Galle Face Green was fit for royalty. Spectacular service and an impressive front-of-house team. A true touch of class， sophistication， and elegance.
