Cham Sculpture Museum

Located in the heart of Da Nang, the Cham Sculpture Museum is a significant landmark that reflects the cultural prosperity of the Champa civilization, which flourished in Southeast Asia centuries ago. Established in the early 20th century, the museum has been continuously developed and now houses the largest collection of Cham art in the world.

As soon as visitors step into the museum grounds, they are greeted by a colonial-style building harmoniously blended with local architectural elements. The serene atmosphere, surrounded by large trees and stone pathways, evokes a sense of nostalgia, making it an ideal place for a leisurely stroll.

Inside the museum, visitors can admire an extensive collection of intricately carved sandstone sculptures, most of which depict Hindu and Buddhist deities such as Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, and Bodhisattvas. These artworks deeply reflect the skills, beliefs, and culture of the ancient Cham people. Some pieces are over 1,000 years old and remain remarkably well-preserved.

Highlights not to be missed include the "Shiva Nataraja Statue," which captures the dynamic movement of the dance pose with artistic precision, and the "Cham Inscriptions," engraved with ancient scripts that narrate religious and royal stories from the past.
