Location: Beside Daan River, Dajia District, Taichung City
Introduction: The old Daanxi Bridge was originally a railway-highway co-structured bridge (the railway and highway shared the same pier). The railway section was completed on May 15, 1921, and the road section was completed on October 25, 1934. In the 1960s, due to the increase in sea line traffic, the demand for railways and highways increased greatly. Therefore, a new Da'an River highway bridge was built downstream in 1975. Due to the Taiwan Railway's "Five Major Bridge Reconstruction Project" plan, the railway was moved upstream to build a new bridge in 1987, making this bridge a disused line. During the July 2 flood in 2004 (the 93rd year of the Republic of China), two bridge piers were destroyed and part of the bridge deck collapsed, resulting in a broken bridge (it is expected to be repaired in three years).
Opening hours: All day
Tickets: Free
Experience: This bridge is a century-old bridge. In the past, its piers were shared by railways and roads, but they are no longer seen in Taiwan today. It is not easy to preserve it. It is very pleasant to walk on the bridge and enjoy the trains passing by. It is a relaxing and leisurely attraction.
