Beach and Culinary Delights: A 3-Night, 4-Day Trip to Dalian

1️⃣ Weather warning
☀️ Current situation: August feels like 35℃+, with extremely strong UV rays
💔 Painful experiences:
• Xinghai Square is exposed to the sun with no shade (sunscreen loses effect in half an hour)
• Bangchuidao Beach is overcrowded (like dumplings on the sand)
• Discovery Kingdom lines take 2 hours (rides last 3 minutes)
2️⃣ Accommodation pitfalls
🏨 Current status: Qingniwa Bridge homestays have tripled in price but are still fully booked
⚠️ Avoid these traps:
• Sea view rooms are actually "narrow view" rooms (only a sliver of sea visible)
• Old buildings have weak air conditioning (woke up hot in the middle of the night)
• Bed sheets have unknown stains (changing rooms costs extra)
3️⃣ Food disappointments
🦞 Chaos:
• Seafood buffets raised prices to 298 RMB/person (ingredients not fresh)
• Mung bean jelly 15 RMB/portion (was only 8 RMB last year)
• Russian Style Street snacks are expensive and taste bad
4️⃣ Traffic collapse
🚕 Tested:
• Hard to get a taxi at Laohutan (drivers only accept long-distance rides)
• Trams are packed like sardines (waited for 3 trams to get on)
• Binhai Road traffic jam for 1 hour (walking is faster)
💡 Survival tips (if you must come):
✔️ Visit Fisherman’s Wharf at 5 AM (only time it’s not crowded)
✔️ Cool off at Dalian Museum (free and few people)
✔️ Eat breakfast with locals (seafood porridge 10 RMB fills you up)
------
💰 Real expenses:
Accommodation 1000+ Transportation 300+ Food 500 = 1800 RMB (3 days 2 nights)
💔 Highly recommend: go to Weihai at the same time (half the crowd, 40% cheaper)

Tested in August 2025, some seafood restaurants have been shut down due to complaints
