Blue sea and sky + billion-year-old giant rocks, majestic and enchanting natural beauty! It's best to choose a sunny day to visit, although it's very sunny, it's totally worth it!
⭐️Transportation:
Jinshitan National Geopark is quite far from Dalian's main urban area, but public transportation is very convenient.
❶ Subway
Line 3 goes directly there, taking about fifty minutes. It’s recommended to board at the starting station as there are no seats if you get on midway. You can buy tickets for the red shuttle bus at the subway station visitor center, 20 RMB/person. The shuttle stops at the Geopark or Golden Coast, suitable for special forces babies. For the return trip, take the red shuttle bus from the Geopark entrance back to the subway station.
❷ Self-driving
You can drive all the way to the ticket office, where there is also a parking lot. We parked at the parking lot at the foot of the mountain and walked a few minutes to the entrance. The advantage is that the scenery along the way is also very beautiful. 10 RMB/day.
⭐️Ways to explore:
❶ Hiking
Tickets are 60 RMB/person, buy online 1 hour in advance. I took my 6- and 9-year-old kids, and the whole hike was totally fine, not tiring! Hiking is recommended, and you can take an electric cart back. Taking a boat doesn’t allow you to fully experience the natural shock.
We spent about 3 hours. There are supply stations along the way to buy water and food, and the restrooms in the scenic area are clean.
❷ Boat tour
150 RMB/person (including ticket). Board at Lover’s Slope and get off at Turtle Back Rock.
The staff on the shuttle bus said the boat ride takes about 15 minutes. The advantage is you can feed the seagulls at sea.
⭐️Other tips:
❶ The scenic area is divided into a hiking route + shuttle bus to Turtle Back Rock.
You cannot reach Turtle Back Rock directly by hiking. At the end of the hiking trail, go to the station to take the free white shuttle bus there. ⚠️ Be sure to arrive before 5 pm, as the shuttle stops running after that.
You can also take the return electric cart (10 RMB/person) from the same station back to the entrance.
❷ You can go down to the seaside anytime during the hike, so it’s recommended to wear non-slip sandals.
❸ There are hardly any seagulls to feed on the hike, so no need to bring sausages.
❹ The toasted bread in the scenic area is affordable and delicious. Our kids ate some on the beach midway before continuing the hike, very comfortable.
❺ If you’re driving, on the way back pass by the Sea Love Wedding Plaza, the sunset there is perfect.
