Dazaifu is a city located in the central part of Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, about 16 kilometers southeast of Fukuoka City, and is part of the Fukuoka metropolitan area.
It is the location of the ancient city of Dazaifu in Kyushu, with many historical sites, including the famous tourist attraction Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. Therefore, a large number of tourists visit every year. The crowded scene in my picture is not common in Japan, especially during my entire sightseeing period, I almost did not meet Chinese tourists. In Kyoto and other places, there are usually many Chinese tourists when there are such a large flow of people.
This is a good place to enjoy the maple leaves in autumn. Although it was cloudy on the day I went, it can be seen that it still cannot stop the enthusiasm of their own tourists to go there.
Dazaifu appeared in the literature in 663. At that time, after Japan was defeated in the Battle of Baekgangkou on the Korean Peninsula, in order to prevent the Tang Dynasty from taking advantage of the situation to attack Japan, defense bases were established in Tsushima Island, Iki Island and the Chikushi area of Kyushu, and Dazaifu was set up here as the military command center for Kyushu and surrounding areas.
Dazaifu was the political center of Kyushu until the 12th century. When China, Korea and Japan came into contact, Dazaifu was used as a window for foreign affairs. It was also a place to receive immigrants from other Asian countries.
After the establishment of the Kamakura shogunate in the 12th century, the power of the Japanese court declined and the political situation was controlled by the samurai. Dazaifu lost its function and stopped operating around the middle of the 12th century. After that, this area became the sphere of influence of the Shoni clan, who had long served as the Dazai Daini. #Overseas Travel #Japan Travel #Japan Good Places #Japan Travel Guide #Japan Free Travel #Japan Kyushu #Fukuoka #Maple Leaves #Japan Appreciation of Red Maple Leaves #Japan Photography #Fukuoka Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
