Delft, a hidden gem in the Netherlands, I could stay here forever!

Friends, I've struck gold in the Netherlands! I discovered an incredibly niche but stunningly beautiful place—Delft—and I just have to share it with you!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in the Netherlands in the morning and take a direct train to Delft. Take a taxi from the station to the hotel to check in. After dropping off your luggage, head straight to the Markt square. The square is surrounded by historic buildings, including the City Hall and the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church). It's a great place to take photos. Spend about 3 hours exploring the area, and have dinner nearby.
Day 2: Take a bus to the Royal Delft factory in the morning. Here, you can watch artisans create Delftware and even try your hand at it. I recommend spending 2–3 hours here. In the afternoon, walk to the Delft canals and enjoy a leisurely stroll along the water. The scenery along the way is picturesque, and you can spend about 2 hours here.
Day 3: Take a taxi to Delft University of Technology in the morning and experience the academic atmosphere of this top university. The campus is quite large, so plan to spend 2–3 hours exploring it. In the afternoon, pack your bags and prepare for your departure.

Highlights

The Markt square has a unique architectural style, blending Gothic and Renaissance elements. Standing in the center of the square feels like traveling back to the Middle Ages. The Royal Delft factory is a paradise for Delftware lovers. Each piece of intricate and exquisite Delftware is worth savoring. The colorful houses along the canals are reflected in the water. Take a boat tour, feel the gentle breeze, and immerse yourself in the charm of the Dutch water town.

Food Recommendations

I highly recommend De Waag restaurant, located right next to the Markt square. You must try their Dutch pancakes, which come in both sweet and savory varieties. The sweet ones are served with fruit jam, while the savory ones are paired with bacon and eggs. The pancakes are fluffy and flavorful, and each bite is incredibly satisfying.

Accommodation Experience

I stayed at Hotel de Koophandel, which has a fantastic location within walking distance of all the attractions. The rooms are cozy and clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly. My stay was truly enjoyable.

Things to Note

You can buy tickets for the Royal Delft factory in advance on the official website to avoid queues. The weather in the Netherlands can be unpredictable, so remember to bring an umbrella. Also, if you plan to take the bus, be sure to purchase a travel card in advance, which you can buy at the station.

Delft is truly a place full of surprises. Its relaxed pace of life and unique cultural atmosphere make it hard to leave. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful travel experience here too. Add it to your travel list now!
