Qinghai Trip Day 11

Qinghai Trip Day 11
The expedition team to explore the Hoh Xil region set out at 06:40 in the early morning of June 23, 2024, and arrived at the first scenic spot, Lake Kulu, after a 50-minute journey. Tour guide Liu Yali introduced that the Toso Lake and Kulu Lake Ecotourism Area is located about 50 kilometers west of Delingha, on the Huaitoutala Grassland. The larger one, Toso Lake, is a saltwater lake with an area of 180 square kilometers. The smaller Kulu Lake is a freshwater lake, covering an area of 57.4 square kilometers. The two lakes are connected by a silver river called 'Passion River', resembling a pair of twin sisters in the Delingha Basin, hence the name 'Sister Lakes'. Together, they resemble a traditional Chinese garment with a pouch, and are also collectively referred to as 'Pouch Lakes'. Although the scenery within the area is stunning, countless mosquitoes swarm and are difficult to fend off. However, the wonder is that although the mosquitoes here bite upon encountering people, they seem to cause no significant harm, as there are no cases of swelling or itching after being bitten. It seems that the mosquitoes in the area are quite benevolent. Northwest China Travel Guide
