Just returned from the Great Bay of Jinsha. It's absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! 💙 This spot is a bend in the Jinsha River (the headwaters of the Yangtze River), which curves in a "U" shape, encircling the entire mountain range. Located between Yunnan and Sichuan, the atmosphere is eerily mountainous, with the water flowing gently below, yet incredibly majestic.
We chose to visit in the morning because we wanted to see the mist floating above the river. As the sun rises, the mist gradually clears, leaving a warm glow on the water's surface, as if someone had sprinkled gold dust. It's truly stunning. If you prefer a soft blue-gold tone, we recommend visiting in the evening before sunset. The light streams down the river's curve perfectly.
This spot is located in the "Three Parallel Rivers" World Heritage Site, so the natural beauty remains unspoiled.
There's no entrance fee and it's open 24 hours. Drive along Road G214, park, and walk to the viewpoint.
The road has a lot of curves, so be careful, especially when it's raining or foggy.
Personal Tip:
If you want mist, go early, around 7-8 AM.
If you want golden light, Go in the late afternoon to evening.
In short… this is another place you'd be missing out on if you're in the Sichuan-Yunnan area.
