The project site is located on a hillside next to the village road in the south of Moganshan, Zhejiang Province, surrounded by unique scenery and a broad view. The original site was quite cramped, and the design aimed to create as many spatial levels as possible within the relatively small area. The original site was divided into three, forming three courtyards. These three courtyards with different characteristics form a cyclical closed loop, creating a garden path around the house.

The original old house had the common double-pitched roof shape, which is the basic form of ancient residential houses in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. In the project, the old house is located in a corner, with no collective villages nearby. Local policies stipulate that the volume of new buildings cannot exceed that of the old buildings. In the design, the original building volume was deconstructed into several basic geometric units, combined into a three-dimensional micro-village; and the interior space and exterior form of the building were reconstructed. The building's roof undulates in height, echoing the continuous mountains behind.
