The Dolomites are home to some of the most beautiful mountain ranges anywhere, with vertical wall formations, sheer cliffs and a high density of narrow, deep and long valleys of nature's art. They have been classified as a world heritage site owing to their unique mountainscape characterised by dolomitic rocks.

Some of the closest major cities to the Dolomites are Venice, Milan, and Verona in Italy, and Innsbruck in Austria. We were able to experience the Dolomites during our Italian holiday. If you too plan to do that via Italy's stunning Dolomites mountain range. Then the city of Bolzano, capital of the South Tyrol region, makes a good starting point.
