When visiting Dongfang, you can't miss out on the food. Besides Dongfang roast suckling pig, we also discovered a delicious Chaoshan restaurant, Chao Pai Restaurant in Hongkun. Every time we go, the place is packed, so you have to get there early, or you'll be waiting a long time.

🌞Seafood Congee in Clay Pot: After trying seafood congee in other places, I still think this restaurant's version is the freshest and sweetest. They use fresh ingredients, and every grain of rice is soaked with delicious broth, soft but still chewy. The rich aroma fills your nose, and one sip warms you to the core. I really love it.

🌞Chao Pai Chaoshan-style Raw Pickled Seafood: Raw pickled prawns are the restaurant's specialty. The freshness of the shrimp is okay, but the sauce is very average, and the taste is quite different from authentic Chaoshan-style raw pickled seafood. I guess many locals aren't used to it. The value for money is so-so.

🌞Puning Fried Tofu: Highly, highly recommended! Who knew I could find authentic Puning fried tofu in Lanzhou? This is a relatively niche Chaoshan delicacy (compared to raw pickled seafood and Chaoshan beef), but they do it so well. The tofu is fried three times, so the skin is super crispy, but the inside is so tender it's practically oozing. Dip it in the chive sauce, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

🌞Chaoshan Kale Fried Beef: So delicious! The beef is marinated, so it's very tender, and the kale is crispy and fresh. The taste is authentic.

🌞After enjoying the food, we checked in to the Gladden S Hotel, which was very good overall. The hotel price is also affordable, the rooms are spacious, there is a large balcony, and there is a parking lot, which is really great.

🌞The hotel rooms are also very clean. Even with a lot of people sitting on the floor, clothes don't get dirty. The rooms have dehumidifiers, so they're not damp, and the blankets are also very clean, with no yellow stains.
