"Dubai, a city that exceeded my expectations! I recently returned from a 5-day adventure and I'm still in awe. From futuristic skyscrapers to luxurious malls and vibrant culture, Dubai felt like a different world.
My journey began with a $700 flight from Singapore to Dubai International Airport, followed by a $30 taxi ride to my centrally located hotel in Downtown Dubai. The efficient metro system made exploring easy, with just $2 per ride.
Top highlights:
- Burj Khalifa ($40 entrance fee): breathtaking views from the 124th floor, stunning architecture, and fascinating engineering facts
- Dubai Mall: shopping, dining, and the stunning Dubai Fountain Show, with over 1,200 stores and restaurants
- Palm Jumeirah: monorail ride ($15) and Atlantis Hotel, with breathtaking ocean views and luxurious amenities
- Dubai Miracle Garden ($20 entrance fee): incredible floral arrangements, with over 45 million flowers and stunning designs
- Desert Safari ($120): dune bashing, camel riding, and sunset views, with a thrilling drive through the sand dunes
- Dubai Museum (free entrance): learning about Dubai's history and culture, with fascinating exhibits and artifacts
A day trip to Abu Dhabi ($150 return bus ticket) took me to the stunning Sheikh Zayed Mosque, with its breathtaking architecture and beautiful gardens, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, with its incredible art collection and stunning design.
Food was incredible, with traditional Middle Eastern dinners ($30) at local restaurants, high-end Michelin-starred meals ($200) at luxury restaurants, and delicious street food like shawarma, falafel, and machboos.
Expenses breakdown:
- Flights: $700
- Accommodation (7 nights): $1,000
- Food and drink: $600
- Transportation: $150
- Activities and entrance fees: $400
- Total: $2,850
Tips and recommendations:
- Plan your trip during winter (November to March) for comfortable weather
- Book Burj Khalifa and desert safari tickets in advance
- Try local cuisine and drinks, like Arabic coffee and dates
- Respect local customs and dress modestly
- Explore traditional souks (markets) for unique souvenirs
Dubai offers a luxurious and cultural experience with something for everyone. I highly recommend it and can't wait to return!"
