"Sustainability" is one of the themes of the 2020 Dubai Expo, which is being held in the United Arab Emirates. From architectural design to actual operation, many pavilions in the Expo Park have demonstrated their skills, using the latest technology and ingenious creativity to reflect the concept of sustainable development, providing many inspirations for the world to explore sustainable lifestyles.
Entering from the southeast gate of the Expo Park, the first thing visitors see is a "steel forest." Eighteen solar power generation facilities, known as "energy trees," are arranged in a staggered manner. Standing behind the "energy trees" is the Sustainability Pavilion, also known as "Terra," whose shape is inspired by the national tree of the UAE, the ghaf tree, a drought-tolerant tree species that grows in the desert. Trees grow on the earth and protect the earth, and their symbolic meaning brings a beautiful and philosophical poetic meaning to the entire building.
The China Pavilion also adopts a number of technological innovations and actively practices the concept of sustainable development. The China Pavilion, named "The Light of China," is one of the largest foreign pavilions at this Expo. According to the staff of the pavilion, the entire building uses energy-saving and environmentally friendly materials and uses solar photovoltaic panels for local landscape lighting. During the construction process, the China Pavilion also saved materials as much as possible and made them recyclable, reducing the pressure on the environment.
