Exploring the Historic Fort Lovrijenac

Across from Dubrovnik's Old Town, the isolated Lovrijenac Fortress perched on a cliff is the city's most formidable defender.
Surrounded by the sea on three sides and the city on one side, from this vantage point, the entire red-tiled old town resembles a jewel lifted by the waves.
🏰 Built in the 11th century, the fortress's thick stone walls still bear the inscription "Non Bene Pro Toto Libertas Venditur Auro" (Freedom Not For Sale, Even If It Were Gold).
🌊 Climbing to its perch, you can gaze out over both the ancient city walls and the vast blue of the Adriatic Sea.
🎬 "Game of Thrones" fans will be familiar with this location, as it served as the filming location for the Red Keep in King's Landing.
🌅 Visiting in the evening is the most beautiful, when the setting sun bathes both the city walls and the fortress in a golden glow.
✨Tips
• 🎟️ Tickets for the city walls include admission to the fortress, allowing you to visit both together. • 👟 There are many stairs inside the fortress, so remember to wear comfortable shoes.
• 📷 Best photo spots: From the fortress's heights, you can overlook Dubrovnik's old town and admire the seaside cliffs.
• 💡 We recommend climbing the fortress first, then walking along the city walls to see this "Pearl of the Adriatic" from a different perspective.
