🕯️ Why We Chose the Ghost Bus Tour
On Halloween night, there’s no better place to dive into spooky legends than Edinburgh — one of Europe’s most haunted cities. We were looking for a fun, atmospheric, and slightly creepy way to explore its dark past, so the Ghost Bus Tour felt like the perfect match.
🚌 The Bus Itself: A Ride Into the Past
We were greeted by a black double-decker bus straight out of a gothic film set. Inside, the red velvet curtains, vintage lamps, and eerie music created an old-world, ghostly vibe. It felt like stepping into a Victorian funeral carriage — in the best way possible.
🧛 The Guide: More Than Just a Storyteller
Our “conductor” was more than a tour guide — he was a theatrical performer, part historian, part stand-up comedian, part vampire (allegedly). With chilling stories, dramatic pauses, and sudden appearances from “ghostly” figures, he brought Edinburgh’s gory past to life.
💀 The Route: Tales of Terror Through the City
We passed through Edinburgh’s most haunted landmarks:
• Edinburgh Castle, with its mysterious prisoners and phantom piper
• The Grassmarket, site of public executions
• The shadowy Greyfriars Kirkyard, known for its poltergeist
• And even underground vaults where sinister happenings have been reported
Each stop came with spine-tingling stories of betrayal, plague, witch trials, and things that go bump in the night.
🎭 The Halloween Twist
Since it was Halloween, everything felt even more intense. Locals in costume, flickering candles in windows, and a chilly Edinburgh fog added an extra layer of dread and excitement. We even had a few surprises onboard — think flickering lights, sudden sounds, and a few “passengers” who didn’t seem quite alive…
📸 Final Thoughts & Tips
This wasn’t your typical city tour — it was part history lesson, part horror show, and totally unforgettable.
✨ Tip: Book early for Halloween — it sells out fast!
✨ Dress warmly — ghost buses don’t come with central heating from the underworld.
✨ Bring your sense of humor and a little courage — you’ll need both.
Would we do it again?
Absolutely. The Ghost Bus Tour on Halloween gave us chills, laughs, and a whole new perspective on Edinburgh’s haunted heart.
