🌊 The Blue Fairy Tale on the Mexican Coastline: From Cabo San Lucas to Ensenada
As the cruise slowly sails into the sunshine of the Baja California Peninsula, the first sight of Cabo San Lucas looks like a handful of scattered diamonds cast by God along the coastline. Every rock here tells a story of battling the waves for thousands of years, especially the neighboring lovers Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach) and Playa del Divorcio (Divorce Beach) — love and freedom are separated by just a short stretch of reef.
🏝️ Todos Santos Island is the unexpected surprise of this trip! This town, known as the "Oasis Art Village in the Desert," perfectly blends traditional Mexican art with surf culture. Watching the sunset at The Pines Park, a wandering guitarist playing Spanish folk songs unexpectedly harmonized beautifully with the sound of the waves.
⛵ The second stop, Ensenada, shows a completely different vibe. Standing under the giant Monumental Flag, you truly understand why Mexicans love this land so much. The reef formations at Ojo del Surf surf spot look like deliberately arranged natural sculptures, and the fishermen at Quintas Beach still use the most primitive methods to haul in their nets, as if time has paused here.
🌅 The most unforgettable moment was early morning at Medano Beach: as the morning light gilded the waves, several local elders were teaching tourists how to weave bracelets from seaweed. They said this is a blessing ritual that has lasted for centuries in Baja California — to always wear the taste of the sea on your wrist.
The city noise brought from the Port of Los Angeles at departure has long been washed away into a salty sea memory by this journey. It turns out the most charming thing about Mexico’s west coast is not the scenery, but the unhurried romance of the people living within it. Next time, I want to stay a whole week in a guesthouse in Todos Santos and listen to a different sea wave sonata every day!
