Essaouira’s Castle by the Sea – Where Stone Meets the Waves 🌊🏰

#hellohalloween

Standing atop the Skala de la Ville, often called Essaouira’s “castle,” you can feel the heartbeat of this coastal town. The ancient cannons, weathered by sea air, still face the endless Atlantic, as if guarding stories of sailors, traders, and pirates from centuries past. ⚓✨

I climbed the ramparts just before sunset — the light turned the stone walls golden while waves crashed below, filling the air with salt and song. From up there, you can see the blue fishing boats bobbing in the port and the whitewashed medina unfolding like a maze behind you. 💙

Walking along the walls, it’s easy to imagine the days when Essaouira was a bustling port between Africa and Europe. Today, it’s peaceful — just the sea, the wind, and a view that feels eternal. 🌅

📍 Location: Skala de la Ville, west end of Essaouira’s medina
🕰️ Best time to visit: Late afternoon for glowing light and fewer crowds
