Hiran Minar

This 21metre, 53 step tower built by Emperor Akbar served as a milepost and lighthouse for night travellers. It’s also believed that he built it as a memorial to his beloved pet elephant, Hiran. At this time it was closed, but usually you’d have a panoramic view from the tie top.. The bustling local market near the fort has unique souvenirs, traditional handicrafts, intricate miniature art, hand-made jewellery and locally crafted attars (perfume oils.)
An unusual tower this one. At the bottom it is octagonal and then it becomes circular and has what look like thorns all the way up. It is big in size so stands out for miles. What it is supposed to have been is a bit of a puzzle. So it may have been a post to keep a look out for or it may have been built in memory of the Akbars favourite elephant. I have heard stranger things.
