Phoenix Ancient Town

You can easily reach Phoenix Ancient Town from Changsha by high-speed train. From the station, it takes about 20 minutes by taxi to get to the town. There are also buses available. This area is home to many Miao people and became famous as the hometown of the renowned Chinese writer Shen Congwen. Most shops here stay open until around 2 AM, but when I arrived at 9 AM, 90% of the shops were still closed. It would be a shame to leave without experiencing the beautiful night scenery, so I highly recommend staying overnight near the ancient town. A river cruise is also highly recommended.
