Nanjing Surrounding Tours|Find a Super Healing Lake

Aoshan Geological and Cultural Park is located on the southwest side of Aoshan Pit. It was originally an open-pit ore mine, developed in 1917 and closed in 2017. It is the largest open-pit iron mine in East China and is known as the "Granary of Ma Steel."

After a century of mining, the pit transformed from a mountain peak at 184 meters above sea level to a deep pit at -212 meters. It has now been beautifully transformed into a comprehensive park integrating geological science popularization and leisure tourism. In April 2024, the park was rated a national AAA-level tourist attraction, becoming a great place for citizens to sightsee, relax, and engage in educational activities.

The lake in the picture is Aoshan Lake, an artificial lake created from the original mine pit, with a depth of -210 meters. The lake surface ripples with clear waves, offering a spectacular view of trains passing by.

Mining Equipment Display Area: Exhibits large equipment such as rotary drill rigs and electric shovels, with a cultural wall introducing the century-long mining history.

Ecological Restoration Area: Through slope management and vegetation restoration techniques, it preserves mining relics such as century-old Nanshan pines, forming an artificial lake with a water storage capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters.
