Florence, the breath of art in a quiet alley

#July Travel Support Fund

Florence was a city that I remembered longer because it wasn’t flashy. The entire city silently held art, and people lived naturally within it. The more I walked slowly and looked around slowly, the more I saw the true charm of this city.

The Duomo Cathedral looked the best in the morning sunlight. Before it became crowded with people, the cathedral seen from the quiet square was a building in itself that coexisted with majesty and delicacy. The scenery of the red dome floating against the blue sky was so calm and beautiful.

The Uffizi Gallery resonated deeply even with me, who doesn’t know much about art. I naturally stopped walking in front of the paintings, and there was an emotion that I felt without an explanation. I think that’s the power of Florence — beauty that comes easily.

When you cross the Ponte Vecchio and walk along the Arno River, at some point, your sense of time disappears. Everything around you flows slowly, and you feel yourself quietly seeping into it. Especially at sunset, Florence, dyed in gold, was so beautiful that I couldn’t even speak.

Florence is a city that quietly settles in your heart rather than leaving a strong impression. A city that you won't forget even after time passes, and that you suddenly miss.
