Shiwan ceramics have an irreplaceable position and role in the history of Chinese ceramics. Shiwan ceramics have a long history. The Neolithic pottery with impressed patterns unearthed from the Shiwan River Tang shell mound site shows the wisdom of the ancestors. The excavation of the Qishi kiln site and the Damaogang Tang and Song kiln sites is enough to prove that Shiwan had become a pottery production base in Lingnan during the Tang and Song dynasties. In the Ming dynasty, Shiwan ceramics enjoyed the reputation of "Shiwan tiles are the best in the world."
The Shiwan Ceramics History Exhibition includes: Ceramic Corner, Formation of Pottery, Evolution of Kilns, Shiwan Ceramics Industry 24 Trades, and Shiwan Ceramic Sculpture Five Exhibition Halls. The ordinary, simple, and easily forgotten Shiwan Ceramics Industry 24 Trades pottery is highlighted, allowing people to understand that the 24 trades are the support for the birth and reproduction of Shiwan generations of potters. Shiwan ceramic sculpture developed from daily-use pottery, and its simple, vivid, thick glaze and interesting artistic style are deeply loved by the public. It is a treasure of traditional Chinese sculpture, and Shiwan ceramic sculpture skills have been included in the national intangible cultural heritage list.
