Shangzhi Hall, located northeast of Baotu Spring, was formerly a courtyard of the Shangzhi Academy. The courtyard features three halls on each side, three on the north and three on the south, surrounded by winding corridors on the east and west. A stream flows through the corridors, creating a sense of openness yet shelter, a tranquility amidst bustle, a hallmark of the entire courtyard. The North Hall, the main building, is framed by bamboo and banana trees behind it, creating a captivating backdrop. Spring water flows through the bamboo forest, connecting to the two adjacent ponds. A charming holly hedge flanks the spring's banks along the west corridor, while swaying willows drape across the corridor, creating a shady willow corridor. At the north end of the east corridor, a small rock formation adorned with flowers and trees overlooks a pond stocked with brocade fish. The waterfront promenade offers seating areas for visitors to relax and enjoy the view.
Thirty-six moons a year, their transformations are all contained within this stone. The courtyard is shrouded in dense shade and verdant trees, evergreen winter and summer, and blossoms bloom all year round. The magnolias are particularly eye-catching. Every spring, their red and white blossoms, as large as snowdrops, overflow with fragrance, earning it the nickname "Magnolia Courtyard."
Jinan has a temperate monsoon climate with obvious monsoons and distinct four seasons: dry and rainy spring, warm and rainy summer, cool and dry autumn, and cold and snowy winter.
