Sanshui Is Home to the World's Largest Reclining Buddha

I'd heard about the giant reclining Buddha in Sanshui for a long time, and today I finally got to see it. Located within the Benhuan Temple in Sanshui Forest Park, the Buddha statue was built in 1994. Modeled after the reclining Buddha depicted in the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes murals, it was carved from a single piece of rock and incorporates 60 tons of red copper. It is said to be the world's largest stone-carved reclining Buddha, measuring 108 meters in length. Resting against the mountain and facing the water, the statue exudes an aura of serenity and tranquility.
