One-hour Guangzhou-Shenzhen river view bed and breakfast to watch the sunset

After raising kids in a big city for so long, I often want to find a place to "hide away" and unwind in a nearby village! I used to visit small villages in Dongguan and Zhongshan, and this time, I found a gem of a B&B in a village in Foshan.

"Qingfeng Banliang·Xijiangyue" at the foot of Xiqiao Mountain perfectly captures the relaxing feeling I'm looking for.

Driving into the alleys of Taiping Village, I instantly escape the hustle and bustle—not some deliberately made-up "Internet celebrity village," but a real village with elderly people fanning themselves in doorways and cats and dogs strolling leisurely. The moment I opened the door, memories of my childhood visits to my grandparents' house suddenly flooded back. The smoky aroma of the old house, mixed with the fragrance of grass and trees, made even my breath seem lighter.

What surprised me most was its unpretentiousness: the soft furnishings were a true delight. The wooden furniture paired with cotton and linen fabrics elicited a sense of comfort without any ostentatious ornamentation. The room and balcony are prime viewing spots, and the retro-style rooms are perfect. In the evening, I sat on a rattan chair and watched the sunset over the Xijiang River. The orange glow spread across the water, and even the kids would become enchanted and join in the daydreaming. This feeling of relaxation is truly priceless!

When I don't feel like moving, I find it soothing to curl up in the lobby. Order a cup of freshly ground coffee, or head to the book bar to read quietly. The sunlight filtering through the windows slows down both myself and time.
