Enoshima Shrine Review 🙏🌊
Address: 2 Chome-3-8 Enoshima, Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan 📍 (About 15 minutes walk from Katase-Enoshima Station, cross the Benten Bridge)
Atmosphere/Location:
Enoshima Shrines are a group of three shrines (Hetsumiya, Nakatsumiya, and Okutsumiya) located on the beautiful Enoshima Island 🏝️. These shrines are surrounded by lush nature 🌳 and have a beautiful view of the sea of Sagami Bay 🌅. The atmosphere is full of tranquility and sacredness 🙏 mixed with the atmosphere of a bustling seaside town. Climbing the stone steps to each shrine feels like stepping back in time 🏯, especially when passing through the red torii gates and stone lanterns 🏮 It’s peaceful and photogenic in the mornings and evenings 📸 but can get a bit crowded on holidays 😅
Highlights:
- Three Shrines: Each shrine is dedicated to Benzaiten, the goddess of beauty, music, and good fortune 🎶💰
- Hetsumiya: The main shrine with a beautiful worship hall and a dragon statue representing the power of the sea 🐉
- Nakatsumiya: Quieter, located near a garden with cherry trees 🌸, perfect for relaxing
- Stairs and Elevators: There are traditional stone steps to climb, or you can take the elevator (Enoshima Escar) for 1,000 yen for an all-day pass Convenient for those who don't want to walk a lot 🚶♂️
- Cute amulets: A shop selling Omamori (amulets) and Ema (wishing plaques) with Benzaiten's unique designs, such as musical instruments or carps 🐟, perfect as souvenirs 🎁
Average price per person:
- Shrine admission: Free 🙌
- Enoshima Escar Elevator: 1,000 yen (about 240 baht) for an all-day ticket 🚡
- Amulets/Souvenirs: 500-1,500 yen (about 120-360 baht) 🧧
- Travel from Shinjuku on the Odakyu Line to Katase-Enoshima: 650 yen (about 155 baht) 🚄
Score:
4.5/5 ⭐
Enoshima Shrines are a place that perfectly combines sacredness 🙏 with the beauty of nature 🌴 Exploring the three shrines with the sea and island views is very peaceful and impressive 😍 Perfect for those who love Japanese culture and photography 📸 I recommend coming early in the morning or on a weekday to experience the real feel. And don't forget to stop by Benzaiten to pray for luck and love! 💖
Tips:
- Wear comfortable shoes because there are a lot of stairs and walkways 👟
- If you want to see cherry blossoms or red leaves 🌸🍁 April or November is a good time.
