Huishan Ancient Town is located in the west of Wuxi City, on the northeastern slope of Xishan and Huishan. It has a long history, numerous historical sites, and rich cultural heritage. It is known as the open-air museum of Wuxi's history and culture and is the only neighborhood in Wuxi where the style of old neighborhoods is well preserved.
The ancient town boasts a rich cultural heritage. Huishan River, a tributary of the Grand Canal, flows directly into the heart of the town. Historical relics and cultural heritage abound on both sides of the river, and it is also the birthplace of the place name Wuxi: "Wuxi Xishan Mountain Wuxi." Unlike other ancient towns, where winding paths lead through small bridges and bluestone slabs, this town is characterized by its dense cluster of ancient ancestral halls, creating a sense of old-world charm. With its whitewashed walls, green tiles, and shady trees, the town boasts wide streets, and an ancestral hall every three steps.
