Day 1: Exploring Dazaifu and Tenjin 🏯
🌄 Morning: Visit to Dazaifu Tenmangu
Start your Fukuoka adventure by taking a convenient public transport ride from Yakuin Station to Dazaifu. Famous for its rich history and cultural significance, Dazaifu Tenmangu is a must-see shrine. Don’t forget to touch the buffalo statue in front of the shrine for good luck! 🐃
🍜 Lunch: Street Food Along Tenmangu
After exploring the shrine, take a stroll down the vibrant streets leading to Tenmangu. This area is filled with tasty street food vendors offering local delights.
Before leaving Dazaifu, be sure to stop by Ichiran for a delicious bowl of ramen. Known for its signature tonkotsu ramen 🍜
🛍️ Evening: Shopping at Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall
From fashion to unique souvenirs, you’ll find a variety of things to shop and take home as mementos of your trip. 👜
Day 2: Temples, Coffee, and Shopping ⛩️
🕍 Morning: Visit to Kushida Shrine
Start your second day with a visit to Kushida Shrine, one of Fukuoka’s oldest and most famous shrines. It’s a peaceful spot, perfect for a morning stroll and a glimpse into the local culture. 🙏
☕ Coffee Break: FUK Coffee
After exploring the shrine, treat yourself to a relaxing coffee break at FUK Coffee. Sip on some expertly brewed coffee while you take a breather and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. ☕💕
🥖 Lunch: Mentaiko Baguette from The Full Full Hakata
No visit to Fukuoka is complete without trying mentaiko, and The Full Full Hakata serves it in a unique way. Grab a mentaiko baguette for a delicious, quick snack before you continue your adventure. 🥖
🛍️ Afternoon: Shopping at Canal City
Next up is Canal City, a massive shopping and entertainment complex. It’s a great spot for finding both international brands and local goods. 🏬
🍜 Dinner: Ramen at Kanetora
Before wrapping up your trip, don’t miss the opportunity to try ramen at Ramen Kanetora near Hakata Station. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, especially around mealtime, but trust me—it’s well worth it. The flavors are rich and comforting, making it the perfect end to your Fukuoka trip. 🍜⏳
🏠 Accommodation
Richmond Hotel Hakata Ekimae
I stayed two nights at the Richmond Hotel Hakata Ekimae, and I absolutely loved it! The hotel is conveniently located next to Yodai Bashi, where you’ll find an affordable local supermarket (Lopia) on Level 4. It’s perfect for picking up snacks or essentials during your stay. Plus, the hotel’s breakfast impressed me, offering both traditional Japanese and Western options—not buffet style, but still a delicious and satisfying start to the day. 🍽️
