In the early morning, as I push open the gates of Manshozan Jotenji Temple, a profound tranquility washes over me. The ancient architecture of the temple emerges faintly through the morning mist, as if awakening the memories of history. Walking along the stone-paved path, with bamboo swaying gently on both sides and autumn leaves falling, the only sounds are the wind and my footsteps. The garden's design is simple yet profound, with the rock garden of Karesansui revealing a deep beauty in the morning sunlight. Each rock and each pattern in the sand seems to hold the philosophy of Zen. I pause on the veranda by the garden, taking a deep breath of fresh air. The scenery before me is like a painting, and my heart grows ever more peaceful. Within Jotenji Temple, one can trace the story of its founder, the monk Shoichi Kokushi, who introduced the steamed bun to Japan, adding a rich cultural layer to the temple. The incense burns quietly, filling the air with a simple yet deeply moving solemnity. A brief stay here allows one to feel the timelessness of Zen and the tranquility of life, as if all worries dissipate in this serene land.
