The incredible story of the porcelain palace of Jingdezhen!

20 minutes drive outside of Jingdezhen you'll find the late work of Yu Ermei, from Jingdezhen.

In her 80's she wondered why there was no Porcelain Palace in Jingdezhen and against her families wishes began to use her land and spent her savings on building a "porcelain palace" decorated with 180+ tonnes of broken porcelain fragments and over 60,000 pieces of her own collections, working with local builders on six highly detailed shrines to the world of ceramics.

It's easy to get lost inside the different floors of these buildings looking at the tiny details, repeating patterns, identifying the factories that the waste ceramics had come from, and even large overglaze painted tiles, some with mistakes showing why they ended up here at the "palace".
