Jinjiang Grand Canyon

Starting from the Changbai Mountain West Scenic Area Visitor Center, take a shuttle bus to the transfer center, then switch to a smaller bus to reach Jinjiang Grand Canyon.

On August 5th, the Alpine Garden and Iris Flower season had already ended, so they were closed, which was quite disappointing.

The Jinjiang Canyon boardwalk is a 1,800-meter-long forest trail that loops around. Along the way, you can spot many hardworking chipmunks enjoying their snacks.

After exploring Jinjiang Canyon, you can take the shuttle bus directly downhill without needing to transfer again.

Transportation options: You can take a high-speed train to Changbai Mountain West and then take a taxi, or take a direct bus from Changchun (booked via a WeChat mini program, which requires a mainland ID number) to the Changbai Mountain West Scenic Area Visitor Center.

We took the high-speed train to Changbai Mountain Station since Changbai Mountain West Station was out of service. From there, we hired a car for 350 RMB to reach the Changbai Mountain West Scenic Area Visitor Center. Generally, you can use the T3 mini program to book a taxi, or hire a car for around 300 RMB. However, since we were traveling with four people and had large luggage, we spent 350 RMB to hire a six-seater vehicle.

The next day, we hired a car from the West Scenic Area to the North Scenic Area for 300 RMB.

As for Tianchi (Heaven Lake), after climbing 1,440 steps, the mountain was shrouded in fog with wind and rain swirling around. The cold wind was biting, and the lakeside was crowded with people waiting for a glimpse of the lake. Unable to squeeze into the prime viewing area, we ended up seeing nothing and descended the mountain feeling disappointed. 👀
