Living in Fuzhou, I finally picked a good day to explore Yantaishan. Here, the hustle and bustle of Sanfang Qixiang is absent; red-brick mansions intertwine with modern shops, making it an excellent choice for a leisurely city walk. Sharing my essential half-day itinerary:
🚶♀️ Concise Half-Day Itinerary:
Meiwu Road Entrance → No. 2 Aiguo Road (Mint Green Old Mansion) → Yantaishan Park Observation Deck (Overlooking Minjiang River and Zhongzhou Island) → Lequn Road Old Building Complex → Shicuo Church (Golden Ginkgo in Late Autumn) → Yantaishan Commercial Walking Street
📸 Key Recommendations:
• No. 2 Aiguo Road: A century-old consulate, its mint green exterior walls and retro corridor are incredibly photogenic.
• Yantaishan Park Observation Deck: Easy to reach the top, enjoy the golden river view sunset in the evening.
• Shicuo Church: A unique Gothic stone church, nestled among golden ginkgo trees in late autumn.
• Tingxia Road Coffee Shops: Like att-store, beautiful light and shadow on the terrace, and the Jasmine Dirty is a unique specialty.
🍜 Culinary Experience:
• Taste Minnan Flavors: Nanmatang (Seafood Stall), Chunyi Teahouse (Chinese Tea).
• Discover Authentic Old Shops: Cangqian Zhonghui Braised Duck Laohua, Linglinghao Crispy Mung Bean Cake (¥2.5/piece).
📌 Practical Tips:
1. Transportation: 10-minute walk from Exit B of "Shangteng Station" on Metro Line 1; parking is tight for self-driving.
2. Outfit: Light-colored or retro-style clothes + comfortable shoes (many stone steps).
3. Time: Shops in the commercial area generally open after 11 AM.
4. Tip: Encountering firecracker flower walls around corners and old people selling malt candy are the charming everyday scenes of Yantaishan.
Just wander around and feel the collision of old mansions, river breezes, and modern artistry – that's the essence of this place.
