[NZ] 2-day, 1-night tour of Tekapo🌌 Seeking the spectacular starry sky and glacier views. Traveling through the small wonder of the South Island

#Overseas Travel Strategy

We took a bus from Queenstown to Lake Tekapo, a lakeside town known for its starry skies. The 4-5 hour one-way trip passed in the blink of an eye as we enjoyed the magnificent natural scenery. After arriving, we checked into the modern and luxurious Galaxy Boutique Hotel Lake Tekapo. At night, a natural planetarium unfolds from the skylights of our rooms.

We had lunch at a restaurant right in front of the lake. Eating while looking out at the clear sky and the milky blue lake is a healing experience that is enjoyed with all five senses. Afterwards, we took a stroll around the small town of Tekapo. The Church of the Good Shepherd and the lakeside scenery are even more beautiful than in the photos.

We were worried about the weather at night, but miraculously the clouds cleared, and when we looked up, we saw a starry sky. We couldn't help but sigh at the Milky Way and the Southern Cross that spread across the lightless sky. We could also see the stars through the skylights of our hotel rooms, making for an unforgettable night.

The next morning, we enjoyed a luxurious breakfast at the hotel and went to Mount Cook on a local tour. Unfortunately, we had to give up on trekking due to the weather, but it was worth spending some time learning about the history of glaciers and mountain culture at the visitor center. After that, we got back on the bus and headed to our next destination, Christchurch.

Tekapo, where you can enjoy the starry sky, lake, and mountains even for just one night, is a relaxing spot that you definitely want to include in your South Island trip. Hoping for clear skies, be sure to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime starry sky experience.
