A Day in Gangneung โ€“ Ocean, Soft Tofu, and Coffee

This trip to Gangneung was themed around 'relaxation and ambiance,' without any special plans. To sum it up, Saint John's Hotel, Chodang Soft Tofu, and Terarosa Coffee were enough to fill the day perfectly.

๐Ÿจ Accommodation โ€“ Saint John's Hotel Gangneung

Our stay was at Saint John's Hotel, located right by the ocean. Just opening the window gives you a stunning ocean view, and the hotel's modern and sophisticated design left a strong impression. The rooms were clean and practical, with cozy bedding that guaranteed a good night's sleep. We booked a package stay and were treated to cake and wine!

๐Ÿฅฃ Morning โ€“ A Simple Local Meal at Chodang Soft Tofu Street

Instead of having breakfast at the hotel, we took a morning stroll to Chodang Soft Tofu Street nearby. While there are many famous restaurants in the area, I chose a quiet, local spot. A bowl of clear and nutty soft tofu served with a few vegetable side dishes felt like it cleansed my entire system.

The flavors were deep yet not overpowering, making it perfect for a tired stomach during travel. The portions were generous, and the price was reasonable, so this will likely become a must-do routine whenever I visit Gangneung!

โ˜• Afternoon โ€“ Terarosa Coffee Factory Main Branch

After a hearty breakfast and a brief walk along the beach, we headed to the Terarosa Coffee Factory main branch. There's a reason people say you must have coffee here when visiting Gangneung.

The industrial vibe of the repurposed warehouse, with its high ceilings and the subtle aroma of coffee beans, was captivating. We ordered brewed coffee and a latte, both of which had a perfect balance of acidity and nuttiness. Every sip made me think, 'This is real coffee.'

Exploring the space was enjoyable too, and we ended up staying for about an hour and a half.

Relaxing at Saint John's Hotel, soothing the stomach with Chodang Soft Tofu, and savoring coffee at Terarosa made for a fulfilling day. Even without doing much, it felt like a truly restful trip. If you want to experience Gangneung's ocean, flavors, and aroma all in one day, I highly recommend this itinerary.
