Weihai is located in the eastern part of Shandong Peninsula, backed by mountains on one side and surrounded by the sea on three sides. It has been rated by the United Nations as the most suitable place for human habitation. Shidao is located at the southeast end of Weihai, in the core position of the Bohai Bay Economic Zone in Northeast Asia, and is the closest place in China to South Korea and Japan.
Rongcheng, known as the "First Tiger of Jiangbei", and Shidao is the only "independent economic zone" in Weihai, a rare one in the country.
Fenghuang Lake New District is close to the mountains, the sea, and the lake, with a superior ecological environment. The mountain is a national AAAA-level Chishan Scenic Area (application for AAAAA is in progress). The scenic area houses the world's largest sea god statue - Chishan Myojin and the world's only Guanyin dynamic music fountain - Jile Bodhisattva Realm.
It has a temperate continental semi-humid monsoon climate with distinct four seasons, moderate cold and hot seasons, synchronized light and temperature, and simultaneous rain and heat. Spring is dry and windy, summer is hot and rainy, autumn is sunny and refreshing, and winter is cold and snowy.
