Spiritual Majesty with a View – A Must-Visit in Geneva’s Old Town

A must-see in Geneva’s Old Town! St. Pierre Cathedral offers peaceful interiors, deep Reformation history, and stunning views from the tower. The archaeological site below is a hidden gem. Don’t miss the climb — the cityscape is worth every step!

St. Pierre Cathedral (or St. Peter’s Cathedral) is one of the most impressive landmarks in Geneva’s Old Town, blending history, spirituality, and panoramic views all in one place.

Originally built in the 12th century and later transformed during the Reformation, the cathedral is closely linked to John Calvin, whose simple wooden chair still sits inside. The interior is elegant and understated, reflecting Protestant values, yet rich in atmosphere and history.

The tower climb is absolutely worth it — after about 150 steps, you’re rewarded with 360° views over the city, Lake Geneva, the Jet d’Eau, and even the Alps on clear days.

📍Address: Cathédrale Saint‑Pierre
Place Bourg‑Saint‑Pierre (also listed as Cours de Saint‑Pierre 6), 1204 Geneva, Switzerland
