Highly recommended and a place to visit when in Penang. A very well preserved and curated Peranakan museum.
The mansion once belong to the Chung family for five generations. After it was acquired by a wealthy businessman, he restored the mansion and turned it into a museum, as well as added his own Peranakan antique collections to the museum. Most of the jewellery displayed in the museum belong to this new owner. There are English and Mandarin guided tours at certain hours and timings, which can help you understand the northern Peranakan culture as well as the history of the mansion and the Chung family. To better understand the mansion, highly recommend to join the guided tours.
