A Day in Penang 🏛️☕🍜 – Heritage Walks & Foodie Delights

#favouriteitinerary

Penang is a melting pot of history, culture, and amazing food, making it the perfect place for a laid-back day trip! From sipping on teh tarik at a roadside stall to exploring heritage streets and indulging in local delights, here’s how my Penang adventure unfolded. 🚶♂️✨

☀️ Breakfast at a Roadside Indian Stall – Simple Yet Satisfying

The best way to start the day? A humble yet flavorful breakfast at a roadside Indian stall along Lebuh Union. Their crispy roti bakar paired with a frothy cup of teh tarik hit all the right spots—simple, delicious, and packed with local charm! 🫖🍞

🏛️ Heritage Walk Around George Town – A Step Back in Time

With a satisfied stomach, I took a leisurely morning walk around Penang’s heritage zone. The charming colonial buildings, colorful shophouses, and intricate street art made every turn a visual delight. George Town’s old-world charm never fails to amaze! 📸✨

🙏 Prayers at the Goddess of Mercy Temple

Nestled in the heart of Penang’s heritage district, the Goddess of Mercy Temple (Kuan Yin Temple) is one of the island’s oldest and most revered places of worship. The scent of burning incense, devotees offering prayers, and intricate temple carvings created a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. 🏮🕊️

🍜 Lunch at the Kopitiam Beside the Temple – Lor Mee Heaven

Right next to the temple, a hidden gem kopitiam was the perfect spot for lunch. I had a bowl of lor mee, a comforting dish with thick noodles in a rich, flavorful gravy topped with braised eggs and crispy shallots. A must-try for noodle lovers! 🥢🔥

🛍️ Shopping Spree at Gurney Plaza

After a heritage-filled morning, it was time for some modern indulgence at Gurney Plaza. Whether it’s fashion, electronics, or just window shopping, this mall has something for everyone. Plus, their cafés make for a great spot to recharge before dinner! 🛒☕

🌙 Dinner at Pulau Tikus Night Market – A Feast of Local Delights

To wrap up the day, I headed to Pulau Tikus Night Market, a bustling street food haven filled with sizzling woks, fragrant skewers, and comforting bowls of noodles. From char kway teow to apam balik, this place is a paradise for foodies! 🍢🍡

💫 A Day Well Spent in Penang

From soulful prayers to heritage walks and mouthwatering food, Penang never disappoints! Whether you’re into history, shopping, or just amazing street food, this island has something special for everyone. 💖
