As we were searching for a nice lunch spot before leaving Penang, we came across Winn’s Café, a Nyonya restaurant that also doubles as an art gallery — and what a delightful find it turned out to be.
Housed in a charming private residence, the café had ample parking within its gates, a rare and welcome convenience. The interior was warm and inviting, with a homely feel that made us instantly comfortable. The team of servers were professional and attentive, offering excellent recommendations from the menu.
We were impressed by the flavourful and authentic Nyonya dishes — each plate felt thoughtfully prepared with the right balance of spices and tradition.
After our main course, we headed upstairs to browse the art gallery on the second floor. The paintings on display were beautiful and available for purchase, adding a unique cultural element to the dining experience.
Back at our table, we couldn’t resist trying their desserts — and though there were only three options, the sago dessert and black glutinous rice turned out to be exceptional. So much so that my wife ordered a second serving!
In all, it was more than just a meal — it was a gastronomical experience infused with warmth, art, and authenticity. Winn’s Café is definitely a place we’d recommend to anyone seeking delicious Nyonya cuisine in a cosy, heartfelt setting.
