[🇳🇱Giethoorn]
🌿 Known as the "Green Venice," this place is located in the Weiden Nature Reserve in the northwest of the Netherlands. There are no time limits or entrance fees, and it's about 115km from Amsterdam.
💕I'm a bit tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, so a weekend getaway to this secluded paradise is a great way to let go of your worries...
🚕Transportation
🚉About 120km from Amsterdam, take the train from Amsterdam Central Station to Steenwijk, then transfer to bus number 70 directly to Giethoorn.
🗓Best Travel Seasons
May - September is peak season, with warm weather, abundant sunshine, lush flowers and beautiful scenery.
📸 Checklist
📍 Giethoorn Museum
📍 Boat Tour
📍 Unique Houses and Gardens
⏰ Itinerary
🐑 Day Trip Recommendation: Round-trip from Amsterdam (4 hours + 3-4 hours for sightseeing and lunch). Arrive in the morning and visit the museum first, have lunch at a riverside restaurant, take a boat tour in the afternoon, and finally explore the village for photos.
✅ However, we recommend staying overnight. Giethoorn is even more charming in the mornings and evenings when there are no tourists, and you can also experience the local homestays.
📷 Photo Tips
Mornings and evenings offer softer light, making them the best for taking photos.
Stand on the bridge with the river and houses as the background;
Sit on the bow of the boat for close-ups of the boat;
You can also take selfies with the flowers in the garden as the foreground.
