Glenorchy: The Iconic Red Shed at the "Gateway to Paradise"! 🏞️🚤

#summervacay

You're right, Glenorchy is simply adorable! This charming spot, famous for its connections to The Lord of the Rings, is just a 45-minute drive from Queenstown.

We headed straight for the iconic Red Shed (Glenorchy Wharf), and it's definitely a highlight. Both sides of the red shed offer great views:

To the left: There's a bridge where you can watch jet skis or boats out on the water.
To the right: You get those breathtaking, expansive views of the mountains and the sea.
It's absolutely a worthwhile spot to stop, relax, and soak in the incredible scenery. However, there's probably no need to stay overnight unless you're in a campervan, as you can take in most of the main sights within an hour.

Important Tip for the Drive! 🚗

There are sections of the road from Queenstown to Glenorchy where you'll lose phone signal, so make sure to download your maps in advance!

My main memory of the drive is just how stunning the scenery was all the way there – majestic mountains and vast lakes everywhere you look. It's truly beautiful!
