Who says enjoying red leaves has to cost a fortune? This hidden spot in Songshan is stunningly beautiful! 🍂 The red leaves cover the mountain in layers, from the foot to the summit. When the wind blows, the whole world is filled with dancing "flames" 🔥. Now I finally understand the breathtaking meaning of "a forest dyed in layers." Every casual photo can go viral on social media 📸!
📍 Location reference: The border area between Dengfeng and Gongyi, Zhengzhou, Henan
📸 Two must-visit autumn viewing spots
1. Wangyao Red Leaf Viewing Area
There are no neat stone paths here; instead, the natural dirt roads add a wild charm! 🌿 The red leaves grow very densely, and walking in feels like entering a red tunnel. At dusk, the setting sun casts a warm golden hue on the leaves 🌇, making every photo look cinematic and the atmosphere incredibly immersive.
2. Songding Alpine Meadow
The advantage here is the wide view! Standing on the meadow, you can see red leaves scattered across the mountains, paired with the distant skyline for a super soothing scene ☁️. Don’t forget to check in at the top of the mountain where the reed flowers sway gently in the wind. Their fluffy spikes are so gentle they can melt away all fatigue ✨, making photos look ethereal!
🚗 Travel & Preparation Tips
- Important reminder! There is a landslide section near Wangyao Village, and vehicles cannot pass through 🚫. If you plan to visit both spots, first navigate to "Songding Alpine Meadow." Vehicles with Zhengzhou Yu A license plates can take the Zhengshao Expressway and exit at Tangzhuang, with no toll fees along the way—super cost-effective! 💰 After visiting Songding, search for "Wangyao Red Leaf Viewing Area." Park near the road closure point and walk 100 meters to find the entrance. Don’t miss it!
- Due to this year’s unusual weather, the overall condition of the red leaves is slightly worse than last year 😌. The photos in this guide are all taken this year, so you can use them as a reference to plan your trip and avoid disappointment.
- The mountain altitude is high, and the temperature is 5-8°C lower than at the foot of the mountain. Be sure to keep warm! 🧥 I wore a jacket with a liner and still felt the wind was a bit chilly 🥶. If you’re sensitive to cold, bring an extra light jacket.
- For photos, light-colored outfits are a safe bet! White, light beige, and pale blue clothes stand out beautifully against the red background 💃, making it easy to capture the feeling of wandering in a painting. The chance of great shots is 100%!
