Haengjusanseong Fortress

The Zenith of Joseon Resilience (★★★★★)
Haengjusanseong is more than just a fortress; it’s the powerful site of the Battle of Haengju in 1593, one of Korea's three major victories during the Imjin War. Led by the brilliant General Gwon Yul, a small Joseon force famously repelled a massive Japanese army. The climb up Deogyangsan Mountain is manageable, leading you through the Chungjangsa Shrine dedicated to the General, and culminating in the grand victory monument at the summit. It’s an incredibly moving and historically significant site that allows you to genuinely feel the spirit of Korean resilience.
