Iceland Golden Circle Attractions Recommended | Kerid Crater, a 6,500-year-old crater

After visiting the previous attraction Skálholt Cathedral (White Church), we headed to the famous attraction Kerid Crater. The crater lake was formed 6,500 years ago and is about 50 meters deep. The main reason is that the top of the volcano collapsed after the volcanic eruption to form a depression. The lake was formed by water accumulation due to rain/snow. Due to the minerals in the soil and the water depth, the lake surface appears opaque and extremely beautiful sapphire color.

Kerid (Kerið) Crater Lake is one of the famous volcanic craters in Iceland. There is also a famous one in the north of Iceland called Stora Viti. We only visited the south of Iceland this time. I hope we can have a chance to see Stora Viti next time.

Tickets: It was 450 ISK when I went there, but now it has increased to 500 ISK
