Address: No. 900, Huaxia Road, Tianhe District, Guangzhou (5-minute walk from Zhujiang New Town Metro Station, Exit B1)
Despite visiting Guangzhou multiple times, this was my first time truly exploring Zhujiang Park. I used to think it was just one of those decorative parks in the city center, mainly for photo ops. But as I ventured inside, I realized how wrong I was.
Zhujiang Park is actually quite large and incredibly peaceful. Surrounded by towering skyscrapers, the park is a haven where you can’t hear any traffic noise—only the rustling of leaves in the wind, the gentle sound of water dripping from ponds, and the occasional chirping of fearless little egrets. Not far into the park, there’s a small lake reflecting the shadows of nearby trees, making it feel like you’ve stumbled upon a green oasis in the city.
The best part? It’s completely free—zero cost! That day, I wandered alone, headphones on, playing my favorite BGM as I strolled along the winding stone paths. When I got tired, I sat on a bench, sipped some water, and took my time. You’ll find that you don’t need to spend money or visit popular photo spots to enjoy a quiet and relaxing afternoon.
The park is filled with old trees and expansive lawns. Some people practice Tai Chi, others walk their dogs, and kids ride bicycles. Yet, it’s not noisy; instead, these activities add a sense of life to the space. I couldn’t resist taking off my shoes and stepping onto the grass—it was so comfortable I didn’t want to leave.
Perhaps Zhujiang Park’s understated charm is why it doesn’t attract many tourists. But that’s precisely what preserves its tranquility and simplicity. If you’re tired from walking around Guangzhou’s city center and want a place to relax without the crowds of a shopping mall, consider spending an afternoon here. Slow down and give yourself a moment to breathe.
