During National Day holidays, everywhere is crowded. For those who dislike joining the long holiday travel rush, why not try a staycation at a hotel? Star-rated hotels in downtown Guangzhou aren't particularly exciting, so consider nature-oriented resort homestays in the surrounding areas—faraway options like Heyuan or Huizhou, or closer ones like Zengcheng or Conghua... Amidst the sea of choices, I discovered this gem:

The location is very convenient, just a 15-minute drive from Nancun Wanbo, yet the entrance is quite hidden and easy to miss. Upon entering, you'll first see the Chinese restaurant, while the hotel is to the left. The small shrubs at the entrance instantly set a relaxing tone, and the lobby's fragrance is perfectly chosen—elegant, not overpowering or cloying. At this point, I was already feeling at ease.

The hotel has only 46 rooms for now. I booked a one-bedroom suite and was pleasantly surprised by: the unexpectedly spacious layout, the impeccably tasteful soft furnishings, a minibar more generous than Rosewood's, comfortable bedding, Melbourne-based GA bath amenities, and a stunning view of the pool and woods. A minor drawback: other guests in the pool can see into the room, and the charm of the open-air bath is slightly diminished by the need to draw the curtains. But aside from that... I adore this place.

The room rate includes a ¥250 voucher for the Chinese restaurant with no minimum spend. The next morning, it was just enough for two people to enjoy a delightful dim sum breakfast (the food was quite good)—effectively covering breakfast for two. Additionally, the package includes a 30-minute professional photoshoot (though I didn't use it...) and a light coconut-taro-sago dessert delivered at 9:30 PM. I used to envy the beautiful staycation options available in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai region, but who knew such a gem was right here in Panyu.
