Guangzhou's "Beijing Road, Yongqingfang, and Shamian" Tour

#Guangzhou #Beijing Road Pedestrian Street #Yongqingfang #Shamian Island ##Mercure Hotel Beijing Road

My first time in Guangzhou, I expected it to be older and more historic, but I found it incredibly trendy and multifaceted.

I stayed at the Mercure Hotel on Beijing Road, which was incredibly convenient. Downstairs, it was right on the bustling Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, and across the street was a large shopping mall. There were plenty of places to eat and shop. However, despite its impeccable location, the hotel lacked much in the way of amenities. For example, I informed the hotel before check-in that I was staying on my birthday, but they refused to provide any birthday decorations or a cake. For a hotel in this price range, I was a bit disappointed.

Beijing Road was really crowded and bustling. I ate at Yin Ji Rice Noodle Rolls, Big Head Prawn Vietnamese Restaurant, and Yum Cha Tao Tao Ju. Although they're all internet-famous restaurants, they all tasted delicious. I think it's a place tourists won't get upset about. 🤣 We also visited the shimmering Big Buddha Temple that evening. It's truly magnificent and unique, nestled in the heart of a busy area.

This time, I also visited Shamian Island and Yongqingfang, popular destinations for hipsters. Shamian Island is beautiful, with its many trees and a very European style. I also stopped by Starbucks for coffee, as it's too hot to visit in the summer. 🥵 Yongqingfang has a small market with many cultural and creative shops and a Cantonese opera museum. Both are worth a visit.

I have to say, this trip completely changed my perception of Guangzhou. I'll definitely be back soon to explore and eat more of Guangzhou.
