Guilin Winter Luxury Tour Day 1 (Part 2 - East-West Alley, Jingjiang Palace, Xiaoyao Tower, Zhengyang Pedestrian Street and Wangcheng Outlets)

In order to save time, we bought some lovely postcards online before we set off, wrote them, and went to the post office to buy stamps and send them out on the first day we arrived in Guilin, looking forward to the joy of our relatives and friends when they received the postcards.

Then we went to the largest souvenir shop in Guilin to buy souvenirs. Because there are discounts in their online store and the postage is not expensive, most of the souvenirs are purchased online, and the only things that are not available in the online store are purchased in the physical store. I bought quite a lot of things online, so I don't have to carry them myself, which is very convenient and doesn't add to the burden of my luggage. I look forward to receiving the goods and will share the quality of the goods with you then.

Afterwards we set off to visit various attractions:

The first stop is Dongxi Lane, a very distinctive tourist attraction. It is the only historical street left over from the Ming and Qing dynasties in Guilin. It is very impressive and combines historical and modern elements. It is a must-see place in Guilin.

The second stop is the Jingjiang Prince's Mansion, a place of great historical value. It was the palace of the Jingjiang Prince, a vassal king in the Ming Dynasty. It is now the Wangcheng Campus of Guangxi Normal University. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the palace was closed and we couldn't go in to take a look. We could only be "outsiders". 😅 Next time I go to Guilin, I must pay attention to the time. Warm reminder: Jingjiang Palace closes at 6 o'clock and the ticket price is 100 RMB per person.

The third stop is Xiaoyao Tower, which is also one of the national historical attractions. It was built in the fourth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (621 AD) and was first built by Li Jing, the governor of Guizhou. Xiaoyao Tower was named after Zhuangzi's work "Xiaoyaoyou". When we arrived at around 6 o'clock, we were able to witness and photograph its appearance before and after the lights were turned on. Each has its own unique beauty.

The fourth stop is Zhengyang Pedestrian Street and Wangcheng Outlets. We didn’t seriously visit Zhengyang Pedestrian Street until the fourth day, so I will introduce it in detail when introducing the attractions on the fourth day. As for the Royal City Outlets, we were a little disappointed because when we arrived, the technology goods floor was closed (we found out when we arrived that they also closed at 6 o'clock), and the prices of sports goods were not particularly cheap, so we had to go back empty-handed. 🥲

Before ending the first day of our journey, we had a sumptuous dinner at my mother-in-law’s house. The decoration of my mother-in-law's house is very unique and the food is delicious. I especially recommend Guilin’s famous beer fish, which really lives up to its reputation, with very smooth meat and delicious taste.

After a hearty meal, we all returned to the hotel feeling satisfied, rested well, and prepared for the busy itinerary the next day.
