Compared to the vastness of the Li River, I prefer the depth of Seven Star Cave. Hi, I’m adventure enthusiast Dashan. This autumn in Guilin, I ventured into the Seven Star Cave within the heart of Seven Star Park. Outside the cave, the autumn colors are vibrant, while inside lies a timeless, bizarre underground palace. This stark contrast instantly gives you a feeling of traveling through time and space.
【“X days Y nights” detailed itinerary (including Seven Star Park)】
Day 1: Arrive in Guilin in the afternoon and check into the hotel. In the evening, visit Elephant Trunk Hill Park to watch the sunset (see previous guide).
Day 2: Spend the whole day at Seven Star Park. In the morning, focus on touring the Seven Star Cave, following the guide to experience the underground wonders of karst landforms. Have lunch inside or near the park. In the afternoon, visit Camel Hill and Huaxia Light Square, then stroll around the park to enjoy the autumn colors. In the evening, you can explore Dongxi Alley to soak in the historical and cultural atmosphere.
Day 3: In the morning, visit Reed Flute Cave (another famous cave) or Jingjiang Princes’ City, choose one based on your interest. Return in the afternoon.
【Autumn cave exploration highlights】
✅ A magical world with constant temperature: Although it’s cool outside in autumn, the cave maintains a steady temperature of about 20°C year-round, making it very comfortable and an excellent choice for autumn travel.
✅ A feast of lights and music: Modern lighting technology transforms the diverse stalactites, stalagmites, and stone curtains into many scenic spots like “Ancient Banyan Welcoming Guests” and “Milky Way Magpie Bridge.” Combined with music, the visual effect is stunning.
✅ A textbook of geological history: The formation of Seven Star Cave took one million years, with every deposit recording Earth’s changes, making it a great place to bring kids to learn about nature.
【In-depth experience: an adventure to the center of the earth】
Entering the cave, the moist, warm air hits you, instantly cutting off the autumn chill outside. Following the paved path deeper, the space alternates between vast halls and narrow passages just wide enough for one person. Colored lights shine on the bizarre rocks, and the guide’s narration gives these silent stones mythical meanings: that’s a waterfall cascading down, those are lychees hanging on branches, and in the distance lies a dormant dragon. The most astonishing sight is the “King Stalagmite,” towering dozens of meters high, requiring you to look up to see its top. In a spacious “hall,” we even enjoyed a brief light and music show, combining sound, light, and electricity, as if truly inside the Dragon King’s crystal palace. This thrill of exploring the unknown is another ultimate experience beyond scenic sightseeing.
【Practical tips】
✍🏻 The Seven Star Cave tour is guided and enters in batches, so allow enough time for queuing.
✍🏻 The cave floor is slippery, and some areas have dripping water, so wear non-slip shoes and walk carefully.
✍🏻 Protect your camera during photography to avoid bumps. Using a tripod may require extra permission.
✍🏻 Follow the guide’s instructions, do not leave the group or enter closed areas to ensure safety.
✍🏻 The park is large, and besides the cave, other attractions are worth seeing, so wearing comfortable shoes is very important.
This autumn, if you want to enjoy the brilliant autumn colors above ground and experience the mysterious magic underground, Seven Star Park is definitely your top choice.
